New Delhi: Four members of a family were charred to death after their house got engulfed in a fire in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas on Friday night. The victims were sleeping on the second floor of the house at the time of the incident. The neighbours, on noticing the smoke, informed the police and the fire department. The fire brigade officials were able to douse the fire after considerable time. The cause of the fire still not known.
The fire reportedly originated on the first floor of the building, which housed a milk dairy. The flames spread quickly, engulfing the second floor where the family lived. The deceased were identified as Dinesh, his wife Gayatri, their daughter Ishika, and son Chirag. The fire brigade managed to bring the fire under control, but by then, the family of four was gone. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.
Fire began in the dairy on the ground floor
Dinesh a carpenter by profession had been living in the Naya Pura area of Dewas for many years. According to the neighbours, the fire began in the dairy on the ground floor before spreading to the upper floors. They raised the alarm after the house was on fire. Fire brigade teams battled the inferno for several hours before it was brought under control.
Dewas Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlod, visited the scene late at night to oversee the situation. A case has been filed and the cops have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
