New Delhi: In a heartbreaking incident late Friday night, a fire erupted in a home located in Saraswati Enclave, Gurugram, claiming the lives of four individuals who were trapped inside while sleeping. The victims, all hailing from Bihar, have been identified as Mohammad Mushtaq (28), Noor Alam (27), Sahil (22), and Aman (17), police said.
The fire broke out in a rented residence in the J block of the housing society, with initial investigations pointing to a suspected short circuit as the cause. According to police reports, the four men were all residing together when the blaze ignited.
Family members recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the tragedy. A relative shared, “When we reached the spot, there was an overwhelming amount of smoke. We couldn’t get close. The police arrived quickly and called for the fire brigade, but it was too late.”
The father of one of the deceased expressed his devastation, recounting how sounds were coming from the room. “When we forcibly opened the gate, smoke billowed out. No one survived. My son was only 17,” he lamented.
Muhammad Shafiq, another relative, added, “Two of the victims were my elder brother’s children, and one was my younger brother’s son. They all shared a room. The police conducted an investigation and called for help, but by then it was too late. All four perished in the fire.”
While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, neighbours have suggested that a short circuit is to blame. Councillor Brahma Yadav expressed his condolences and assured that he would do everything possible to assist the bereaved families. “This is a deeply saddening incident. All four victims belonged to the same family. It is horrifying beyond imagination,” he stated.
Local authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident, with police officials confirming that further inquiries are underway.
