New Delhi: A 20-year-old Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) aspirant has died by suicide at his room in the coaching hub of Kota in Rajasthan on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Abhishek Lodha. This is the second case of suicide in the last 24 hours.
A day before Lodha ended his life, another 19-year-old engineering aspirant had hanged himself in his room at the coaching hub. In his suicide note, Abhishek said he felt that he won’t be able to clear the top notch engineering exam.
‘It’s beyond me. I am sorry’
A candidate is required to clear JEE exam to get into the top most engineering colleges in India. “I am preparing for the JEE exam but I am not able to study. It’s beyond me. I am sorry,” the suicide note stated.
Lodha was a resident of Guna district in Madhya Pradesh. He relocated to Kota in May 2024 for the JEE exam preparation. Lodha’s elder brother Ajay informed that he was good studies and himself volunteered to come to Kota and prepare for the engineering.
‘He looked fine when we talked’
Lodha’s uncle came to Kota to collect his body. He said his nephew did not seem disturbed about his studies and never said anything as they talked to him.
“He always seemed positive and said all was going good. He told us that he was busy with his preparations. We spoke to Abhishek last time before he took the extreme step,” said the uncle.
Meanwhile, police said Abhishek’s death seems to be a case of exam related stress.
