New Delhi: A Pakistani youth crossed the border and entered India after meeting his girlfriend. The Border Security Force (BSF) and police caught the youth. However, the problem now is that Pakistan is not taking back its citizen even after two months. The incident came to light from Barmer, Rajasthan.
Almost two months have gone by since the youth was nabbed near the border, but Pakistan has still not agreed to accept him as its citizen. Because of the refusal of Pakistan, the youth continues to be in police custody and the cops have to provide him security 24X7.
He crossed the border after meeting girlfriend
Sources said that the Pakistani youth had ventured into the Indian territory across the international border from Navatla Bakhasar area on August 24 night. After this, he reached Jhadapa village, about 10 kilometers away from the border. When he felt hungry in the morning, he asked for food from the villagers. The youth also asked about the bus to Tharparkar city. It was then that the villagers started getting suspicious about him.
The villagers informed the police and BSF about the youth. After this, he was taken into custody. During interrogation, the youth told the cops that his name was Jagsi Koli and he is a resident of Kharora in Tharparkar district in Pakistan near the border. He also told the police that on the night of August 24, he had come to a village near the border in Pakistan to meet his girlfriend.
As he met his girlfriend, a fight broke out between the two over some issue, and the girlfriend’s family got to a wind of it, he claimed. Out of fear and to escape his girlfriend’s family, the young man ran towards the border in thick darkness. He also said that despite patrolling of the BSF along the area, he crossed the international border and entered the Indian border and reached among the villagers several kilometers away from the border.
Monitoring him a headache
After being nabbed at the Indian border, many security agencies, including BSF, interrogated the youth, but nothing suspicious was found with him. It was decided to return the youth to Pakistan. However, Pakistan did not show any interest in the entire matter. Therefore, the youth has been kept under police surveillance in Bakhasar police station of Barmer district, but the biggest problem for the police is staff crunch. Two soldiers have to be deployed to keep a tab on the youth 24 hours a day. To monitor the youth and providing security to him has become a huge problem with the police and they are grappling with it.
