New Delhi: A former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA on Friday broke down in tears during an interview after being denied a party ticket from Haryana. In a video, Shashi Ranjan Parmar is shown being questioned about his exclusion from the candidate list for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Parmar was advocating for a BJP candidacy from the Bhiwani and Tosham constituencies.
“I thought my name would be on the list…” he says before choking up, eventually breaking down and weeping. The interviewer tries to console Parmar, reassuring him that both the party and his constituency will recognise his value. However, the former MLA continues to cry.

“I had assured people that my name was being considered. What am I supposed to do now? I’m feeling helpless,” Parmar laments. Encouraging him to remain resilient for the party workers and his supporters, the interviewer says in Hindi, “Netaji, aap honsla rakhein (Sir, please stay strong).”
Parmar, speaking with a strained voice, says, “What is happening to me… the way I’ve been treated… I am in so much pain. What kind of decisions are being made?”
Another former MLA named Latika Sharma, also a ticket aspirant from Kalka, Haryana, became emotional in front of her supporters last night after she did not receive the party ticket. During a meeting with her supporters, she said that she would decide her future course of action based on their guidance. She also said that if her supporters want her to contest the election, she would run as an independent candidate.
Haryana will hold its polls on October 5, with the vote count scheduled for October 8. The deadline for filing nominations is September 12, followed by scrutiny of papers on September 13. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until September 16.
