New Delhi: Two children lost their lives and 11 others were injured due to food poisoning at a wedding ceremony in Satyalta village of Gordi block, Udhampur district of Jammu. The victims, who consumed food at the event, began experiencing severe symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea shortly after eating. They were rushed to GMC Udhampur in critical condition. Two more children were referred to GMC Jammu due to the gravity of their condition.
The Medical Superintendent Dr Sanay Sharma has confirmed that the cases are attributed to food poisoning. Additional patients are still receiving treatment at PHC Gordi and are being transferred to GMC Udhampur as soon as possible.
“This morning, six children were reported to us with the history of vomit and loose motions. When their history was taken, they had consumed food at a wedding ceremony. Most probably, as per the doctors, the history tells that this is due to food poisoning. Six of them are admitted here, three of them are there in the emergency ward and, very sadly, two of them were brought dead,” Sharma said.
