Chennai: A disturbing incident has come to light at a government school in Gopalapuram, Chennai, where a minor girl has become pregnant. A higher secondary school student allagedly sexually abused a fellow girl studying in the same school, both minors. The inital police inquiries revealed that the boy had been exploiting many girl students. All-women police have invoked the Pocso Act against the boy for sexually abusing the school girl. The burning issue is being put to rest now, as the cops have been probing into the issue for the past five days.
Minor student raped in Chennai School, accused arrested
The girl student visited her stepfather’s house in Badur about a week ago where she had experienced severe stomach pain. Subsequently, she was taken to a hospital where the pregnancy was terminated. The doctors said that the student was 6 weeks pregnant after they examined her. Following this, the girl’s pregnancy was terminated as per the advice of the senior officials of the medical department.
When the school girl was questioned about this, the girl said that she was allegedly raped by a fellow student, who claimed to be in love with her, a few months ago.
The student was subsequently arrested by the Icehouse police under the POCSO Act and admitted to the Kells Government Care Home, Kilpakkam, Chennai.
It is to be noted that the Government Boys Higher Secondary School at Gopalapuram, Chennai had started enrolling female students in higher classes only two years ago.
