New Delhi: At least 11 people were killed and over 30 others left injured in a horrific road accident in Sikar district of Rajasthan on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when a bus crashed into a small bridge in the Lakshmangarh area of Sikar. The injured have been rushed to hospitals in Lakshmangarh and Sikar for treatment. The police arrived at the scene after receiving the information about the accident.
The incident occurred near the small bridge in Lakshmangarh around 2 pm on Tuesday when a private bus coming from Salasar rammed into the wall of the bridge.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus collided head-on with the bridge wall, completely crushing the driver’s side. After the collision, there was chaos inside the bus. People started rescuing the trapped. One by one, all the injured were taken to the nearest government hospital in Lakshmangarh. Upon receiving the report, Sikar City DSP (IPS) Shaheen C and ADM Ratan Kumar also arrived at the scene.
Ex-gratia announced
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Sikar. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000, the PMO declared.

5 people died on the spot
According to the police, the private bus was full of passengers and was heading from Salasar to Nawalgarh when the accident occurred. It veered off the road and rammed into the bridge, killing five on the spot.
Expressing grief over the mishap, Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal wrote on X. “The loss of life due to the bus accident in the Laxmangarh area of Sikar district is sad news. May God give peace to the souls of the deceased and speedy recovery to the injured.”
