Nagpur: The Rashtriya Swayamsevka Sangh (RSS) on Friday held Vijayadashmi Utsav in Nagpur in presence of its Chief Mohan Bhagwat. The celebrations saw a host of events at the Resham Bagh including a performance by the outfit’s band of the sevaks.
The RSS is celebrating its 100th foundation day as it was on Dusshera in 1925 when the outfit was established.
The event began with a ‘shastra puja’ by the Sarsanghchalak following which volunteers conducted a path march. During this, the volunteers were seen marching in a parade wearing traditional uniforms, accompanied by a band.

On the eve of Vijayadashami and the commencement of the centenary year of the RSS, Ma. Shantakka, the chief Sanchalika of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti delivered an address through a video.
Here’s the complete speech:
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is a unique and the world’s largest voluntary organisation, playing a significant role in building a capable, strong, organized, and awakened Hindu society.
The spark of the noble thoughts of P. P. Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar ignited the flame of patriotism in the hearts of millions. As a result, a dedicated and diligent group of workers, who kept national interest in mind and complete devotion towards society in their hearts, was formed. These workers, today, have provided capable leadership in various fields of society, earning India a place of respect on the global stage. The contribution of a self-respecting India is now visible on the world platform. This is the true essence of the centenary year of the founding of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
With the vision of instilling a sense of discipline and the spirit of ‘Nation Above All’ in women, the Rashtriya Sevika Samiti was established by Lakshmibai Kelkar on Vijayadashami in 1936. The Samiti continues to contribute to the creation of cultured, capable, and patriotic citizens, moulding women into virtuous, wise, and strong sevikas (volunteers) through values and traditions.
On this occasion, I appeal to the entire Indian society to embrace the Indian philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family), forgetting distinctions of caste, creed, and sect, and contribute to the development of the nation.
