Chitrakoot: 10 people were killed in two road accidents in Chitrakoot city and Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday morning.
In Chitrakoot, at least 6 people died and five others suffered injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle, police said.
The victims hailed from Chhatarpur and were travelling from Prayagraj. A total of 11 people were in the Mahindra Bolero vehicle when it lost control and collided head-on with a truck in Raipura police station area at around 5.30 am, SP Arun Kumar Singh said.
Five people died on the spot in the crash, while one other succumbed to critical injuries at a hospital. The injured were given initial treatment at a nearby hospital but later referred to the district hospital for further treatment.

Five killed in accident in Pilibhit
In Pilibhit, a car carrying 11 people crashed into a tree in an area under the Neoria Police Station, resulting in the death of five passengers, according to a senior police officer.
“Some people from Khatima, Uttarakhand, had come here to attend a wedding. They were on their way back in a Maruti Ertiga when the car reportedly lost control and crashed into a tree,” said Superintendent of Police (Pilibhit) Avinash Kumar Pandey said.
“Doctors have informed us that three individuals were declared dead on arrival at the hospital, while two others succumbed to their injuries during treatment — a total of five fatalities,” he added.
