Nushrratt Bharuccha’s much-anticipated thriller, “Akelli,” faced an unfortunate setback on its release day as it fell victim to piracy. Latestly.com has reported the illicit leak of the full HD version of “Akelli” on multiple torrent websites, including Filmywap, Onlinemoviewatches, 123movies, 123movie, and others.
“Akelli” Falls Prey to Piracy
This piracy attack on “Akelli” follows the distressing trend of films being compromised by piracy. The movie can now be downloaded for free from notorious platforms like Tamilrockers and Telegram, among others. Unfortunately, “Akelli” shares a similar fate with Ayushmann Khurrana and Ananya Panday’s “Dream Girl 2,” which also faced piracy issues on its release day, as both films released on August 25, 2023.
Directed by filmmaker Pranay Meshram, “Akelli” is an emotionally charged spine-chilling thriller that revolves around a young woman’s battle for freedom. Produced by a team that includes Ninad Vaidya, Nitin Vaidya, Aparna Padgaonkar, Shashant Shah, and Vicky Sidana of Dashami Studioz, the film explores themes of bravery, resilience, liberation, and survival. It features Nushrratt Bharuccha, Nishant Dahiya, Rajesh Jais, Tsahi Halevi, and Amir Boutrous in pivotal roles.
Piracy Strikes “Akelli” and Other Bollywood Releases
Unfortunately, “Akelli” is not the only movie grappling with piracy issues. Reports have also surfaced about the leak of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s “Gadar 2” and the piracy-related challenges faced by “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.” Earlier instances include leaks of Salman Khan’s “Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan,” Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan,” Ajay Devgn’s “Bholaa,” and Kartik Aaryan’s recent release “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” all of which were leaked online before their official release dates. Piracy remains a persistent threat in the film industry, affecting both filmmakers and audiences alike.
