‘Don’t politicise it, need justice’: MLA Zeeshan on father Baba Siddique’s killing

New Delhi: Three-time MLA and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was gunned down in front of his son MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East last Saturday.

Almost a week after his father’s murder, Zeeshan has reacted to the killing which was carried out by a trio. Zeeshan has sought justice and appealed that his father’s murder should not be given a political colour and it should not go waste.

Taking to X, Zeeshan Siddique wrote on Thursday: “My father lost his life protecting and saving the lives and homes of poor innocent people. Today, my family is broken but his death must not be politicised and definitely not go in vain. I NEED JUSTICE, MY FAMILY NEEDS JUSTICE!”

Police has said that six bullets were fired at 66-year-old Baba Siddique. Four of these bullets hit him and another hit a youth in the leg. Bobby Siddique was taken to the Lilavati Hospital where he breathed his last.

Two assailants — Gurmail Baljit Singh hailing from Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap who belongs to Uttar Pradesh — were nabbed soon after the murder. However, Shiv Kumar Gautam, the third shooter, is still at large.

On Sunday, Kashyap claimed in a Mumbai court that he was 17 even though his Aadhar card mentioned him to be 19. A bone ossification test was ordered. The results of the test substantiated that he was not a minor.

According to some police sources, the accused have said that they work for jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. On Sunday, a Facebook post made on the handle of Shubuu Lonkar, who is believed to be an aide of Bishnoi gang, claimed the responsibility for the murder of Bobby Siddique.
