BookMyShow Apologizes for Trevor Noah’s Bengaluru Show Cancellation Amid Technical Troubles
BookMyShow has issued a public apology to the disappointed fans of American comedian Trevor Noah following the abrupt cancellation of both of his shows in Bengaluru. The cancellation was attributed to a critical technical glitch, which left the audience unable to hear the performer during the event held at the Manpho Convention Center within the Manyata Tech Park.
Trevor Noah arrived for his performance but quickly realized that the audience was unable to hear him due to a technical problem. Consequently, he decided to exit the venue.
The unfortunate incident resulted in immense inconvenience for fans who had endured hours of traffic congestion to attend the show. This misfortune was largely attributed to inadequate event management.
Many took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the organizers, BookMyShow. Complaints ranged from the poor choice of venue to chaotic parking arrangements, insufficient restroom facilities, and unreliable internet services during the event.
One disgruntled user, Ashok Karanth, compiled a comprehensive list of grievances concerning BookMyShow’s management of the event. The list highlighted issues such as the absence of proper road access to the venue, initial restrictions on parking for non-VIP attendees leading to parking woes, malfunctioning QR code entry due to poor internet connectivity, and non-functional card payment machines.
Karanth’s list of complaints also pointed out the vendors’ inability to provide change for cash payments. He concluded his post by questioning whether the event’s cancellation was justified considering the extensive inconvenience faced by attendees.
BookMyShow promptly acknowledged the widespread discontent and issued an apology. The company expressed regret for the disruptions during Trevor Noah’s “Off The Record” show at the Manpho Convention Center on September 27. Subsequently, both the shows scheduled for September 27 and 28 were canceled.
The company assured customers of a full refund within 8-10 hours and expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. Nevertheless, many users expressed that an apology alone would not suffice, demanding further action against the event organizer. They stressed that the issues experienced, including traffic delays, food expenses, and subpar facilities, extended beyond monetary compensation and could have been mitigated with adequate event planning.
