According to NSDL data, FPIs have invested Rs 46,581 crore in Indian markets so far in July. According to exchange data, FPI inflows across loan, hybrid, loan-VRR, and equity may have been lower since June, but they are on track to register the fifth consecutive monthly buying in the Indian market.
Increased investment in the Indian market
With Sensex and Nifty hitting all-time highs this week, strong rally in Indian markets also reflected in foreign investments. Analysts say India is the largest recipient of FPI inflows YTD among emerging markets. FPIs have invested Rs 43,804 crore in India till 21st of July. This figure includes investments through stock exchanges, primary market, and through bulk deals. Also, between April and July, foreign investors (FII) inflows were close to Rs 80,500 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold Rs 4,500 crore during this period. DII sales led to mutual fund SIP investments of Rs 43,211 crore in the April-June quarter, which averages out to Rs 14,400 crore per month. According to analysts, FIIs have added over 700 points to the Nifty since the 3rd of this month at the start of the Q1 earnings season.
FIIs were sellers on July 27 and 28
However, FIIs turned sellers in the last two sessions (July 27 and July 28) and sold a total of ₹5,003.35 crore in the Indian stock, breaking its continuous buying streak that helped maintain the record rally in domestic benchmark Nifty this month. I got help. The Nifty has gained nearly five per cent in July and 15 per cent in the current financial year mainly due to momentum on account of foreign capital inflows and results for the first quarter of the financial year 2023-24 (Q1FY24). In the last two sessions, FIIs bought a total of Rs 5,003.35 crore in Indian equities, while DIIs bought a total of Rs 4,162.52 crore in equities.
