Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, unveiled the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal on July 18, aiming to assist nearly 10 crore depositors of Sahara Group Cooperative Societies in reclaiming their funds. Eligible depositors can access the portal, log in, and submit their claims through an online application while providing the necessary documentation. It is vital to note that only claims filed through the portal will be eligible for a refund as per the Supreme Court judgment dated March 29, 2023
Facilitating Funds Reclaim for 10 Crore Depositors
The registration process on the Sahara Portal is user-friendly. Depositors need to visit the home page of the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal and click on “Deposit Registration.” On the registration page, fill in the accurate details, such as the last four digits of your Aadhaar card and your Aadhaar-linked mobile number. After receiving the OTP, enter it and click on “Verify OTP” to complete the registration process. To register successfully, depositors should have essential documents like membership number, deposit account number, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, deposit certificate/passbook, and PAN card. If the refund amount exceeds 50,000, a PAN card is mandatory.
How Eligible Depositors Can Reclaim Funds on the Sahara Portal
Additionally, a mobile number and a bank account linked to Aadhaar are crucial for the claim process. Without these, depositors cannot raise a claim request on the portal. Once a claim is submitted, depositors will receive an acknowledgment number and an SMS on their registered mobile number. After 45 days from the successful claim submission, the claimed amount will be directly credited to the depositor’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
