Airline Bomb Hoax Over 150 In A Week Raises Concerns; Center Slams X, Here’s Why

For a couple of weeks, several airlines in India have been facing bomb alerts which are proven to be mere hoaxes after the investigation. In the last week, over 150 flights have been diverted and even a few faced cancellation over the bomb hoax. Even yesterday, 30 flights have again received bomb threats. Amid this crisis, the Union Ministry of Electronics and IT slammed Elon Musk’s X (aka Twitter) as most of these bomb threats have been circulated via this social media platform. The Center also questioned the steps taken to curb such alarming and hoax rumours of bomb threads from spreading via social media platforms.

According to NDTV, the meeting was chaired by joint Secretary Sanket S Bhondve, which included several representatives of airlines such as IndiGo, Vistara and Air India as well as social media platforms’ representatives of X (formerly Twitter) and Meta.

Investigation Against Flight Bomb Threats

The airline representatives said that they have followed all the standard operating procedures while ensuring security. They have also alerted authorities on time. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu also ensured that the government is trying to investigate the situation. Also, they are handling the situation without compromising the safety of the passengers. Not only that, the government will put those who are behind these hoax threats into a no-fly list.
