Dhami’s statement is politically significant in view of his government’s decision to implement anti-conversion law and anti-riot law in the state. The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is all set to come into existence soon.

It was 30th anniversary of the Khatima firing incident

Dhami was in Khatima town of Udham Singh Nagar district to pay homage to statehood agitators at Shaheedsthal late on Sunday evening. The Khatima firing incident, which had claimed lives of seven persons on September 1, 1994, is an integrated part of the history involving statehood agitation for the creation of Uttarakhand as a separate history. Dhami said his government has implemented strict anti-conversion law and anti-riot law. He also recalled his government’s historic decision to get the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) passed in the state assembly. Besides, he also claimed that his government has freed around 5000 acres of lands by removing illegal encroachment.

Government is committed to fulfill the dreams of statehood agitators

Dhami further said his government is committed to fulfill the dreams of statehood agitators who made their supreme sacrifice to ensure the creation of a separate state as Uttarakhand. He also added that the women also made their contribution in the statehood movement and thus, his government has given special focus to ensure empowerment of all the women of this hill state.

Uttarakhand has implemented 33 per cent horizontal reservation for women

Remembering several decisions of his government for women empowerment, Dhami said Uttarakhand has implemented 33 per cent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs. He also recalled that his government is giving pensions of rupees 3000 rupees per month to the families and dependents of martyrs, who sacrificed their lives for the success of statehood agitation.
